Not being able to receive a phone call, a text message or an email that a love one has passed away for HOURS because all communication is down in Nunavut is absolutely unacceptable in todays age.
Having to rely on a satellite communicator such as a garmin Inreach device to have a back up means of communication and pay out of pocket for it is not acceptable for telecommunications in Canada!! Not knowing if it’s going down for minutes, days or hours is unnerving.
A physician at the main hospital for Baffin Island has to go through many unnecessary obstacles to be able to talk to a doctor in Ottawa for vital guidance for a critical patient because all main communication was down. This is unacceptable!! The prices we pay NorthWestTel or other local companies, we should be getting better than anywhere in the country. But yet, if it’s cloudy the internet doesn’t work well and you can’t even be on a zoom call with business partners on mainland Canada.
I’m not talking like these are one of instances. I am talking weekly and if I said said daily.. it is honestly not a far stretch.
Please please please do something about this.
