Most services provided to rural and northern Saskatchewan are shamefully inadequate. This includes internet services, cellular, and any broadband related services. Telephone land lines through not 100% reliable are the most reliable method of communication to the outside world. Cellular service in our area only works about 10% of the time, if at all, satellite internet providers are extremely costly, slow, and even though they have become more reliable, in the last couple of years, they are still not at the level of reliability provided by land lines.

Much like the the services that we now receive in certain rural areas of Saskatchewan, the CRTC is equally inadequate in addressing the needs of many rural Canadians. In proposing the end to the subsidy without providing any alternative is a shameful disregard for citizens of Saskatchewan and Canada and I would suggest that maybe we the people of Canada stop subsidizing the CRTC and get rid of an entity that only serves the interests of large urban centres mostly located in Ontario.
